My Bucket List

Deciding my bucket list items was surprisingly hard considering I’m always thinking about new destinations I could visit or experiences I’d love to do, but I thought it would be useful for me to have a clear idea of the top things I would love to do in my lifetime. I wanted to whittle it down to the top experiences that sprang to mind as I could think of hundreds so that it is more realistic to actually complete the list.

I’ve tried to consider things I have always wanted to do and new ideas I have recently thought of. I find when I have a clear vision of what I want to do it is so much easier to work towards making it a reality, so after plenty of thought and consideration I would like to share my finalised bucket list with you guys. I love looking at other peoples bucket lists I think its so inspiring and gives you a bit of insight into peoples personalities. I hope mine can inspire some of you!

Dive the Great Barrier Reef  This is a dream I’ve had since I was a child and I feel insanely lucky that this January I will actually get to tick this one off! I feel as though I shouldn’t be including this as I know I will be completing this very soon but it is probably one of the first things I’ve ever considered as a bucket list item.

Trek the Inca Trail I will admit before this hadn’t really interested me as I was a complete exercise-phobe and couldn’t bear the thought of hiking for that long, but recently I cant get the idea out of my head and getting to see Machu Picchu would be worth all the effort. Hopefully next year will be the year I can tick this one off the list.

Volunteer in Africa I was planning on doing this next year but due to recent developments I am considering putting this one off for a while and potentially heading over to South America. I would love to volunteer in a school or a youth project and contribute towards sustainable development.

Road trip across America I have been fascinated with American culture and the diversity of its states. I have been fortunate enough to visit twice but there is still so much to see! It may take me a few years to save for this trip as I want to make it a big one and fit in everywhere I want to go.

Write a book This one stands out compared to all the other items on the list, as they all seem to be travel related, but it is definitely something I would love to do. Whether it was published or not I love the idea of having written a book, I have no idea what I’d write but hey you never know what could happen in the future!

Learn a language Meeting people on my travels had really made me feel a little ignorant knowing only one language when I’ve come across people who know multiple! Its easy to travel when speaking English as most countries can speak at least a little but I feel as though I should learn another and hopefully be able to speak it fluently. I’m thinking I’d like to learn Spanish, maybe one day I’ll actually get around to it!

See the Northern Lights This is another early one of mine, after learning about the Aurora Borealis in school I’ve always wanted to go. My sister was lucky enough to go recently and from what she has described it has further confirmed this is something I really want to do.

Spend New Years in New York City I’ve been lucky enough to visit New York twice but I have never spent New Years Eve there, I would absolutely love to watch the ball drop in Times Square. There's something so magical about the thought of starting a new year in one of my favourite places.

Live in a foreign country I would love to be able to spend at least one year living in another country and the first places that spring to mind are either New York or Australia. Hopefully I can find the courage to one day to take the plunge!

Do an extreme sport This is not one I would have normally ever considered but if I'm thinking of crazy things to do in my lifetime it stands out as an exciting experience. Im thinking paragliding might not be so bad but I know bungee jumping is definitely something I would not do!

Learn to play an instrument I would love to able to play the guitar, I love the idea of singing along to an acoustic guitar playing some of my favourite songs. When I get back from this trip I'm definitely going to at least buy a guitar and finally start learning!

Fly first class at least once This is an experience I know I would definitely love to do after having a few negative flying experiences. There are those times you get sat next to people you don't know who can sometimes end up annoying you in some way or another. For me the most annoying thing is when  people try and strike up conversation when I'm trying to settle down and sleep (I sound so antisocial!) or when you're so cramped up its impossible to get comfortable.

Fly in a helicopter Again this may be one I can cross off on my upcoming trip as I am hoping to take a helicopter flight over the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. If all goes to plan and I haven't ran out of money at this point hopefully I can make this dream a reality!

So there you go, this is my ultimate bucket list and after having really taken the time to sit down and think about what I'd love to do in this lifetime it feels so much more likely to happen knowing what I need to work towards. I would love to hear if any of you guys consider these as your bucket list items or what experiences would be on yours, feel free to comment down below and let me know!
