“The biggest adventure you can ever take is to live the life of your dreams.” - Oprah
I like to think that I lead an adventurous life, that I try and push the boundaries and push myself out of my comfort zone as much as I can. I definitely live adventurously and get out of my comfort zone when I’m travelling but when I’m not travelling, or when I’m settled in one place for some time, I don’t think I’m living adventurously enough. I don’t think that living adventurously means travelling full time, doing extreme activities everyday or seeing new places all of the time. I think that living adventurously is a mind-set that everyone can achieve no matter how you choose to live your life.
I think to live adventurously you need to break down the barriers you’ve put up for yourself and start believing that anything is possible. Start saying yes to things you usually wouldn’t, start trying new things and start trying to make things happen for yourself. There are no rules when it comes to living adventurously, that’s the best part, so you can start breaking out of that comfort zone and being more daring in anyway you like.
Take me for example, I never thought I would be able to travel solo but here I am on the other side of the world by myself! The only reason I’m here is because I genuinely made myself believe it would be possible and believe that I could do it. I’m not saying you need to embark on an epic solo journey across the world to bring more adventure to your life, I’m simply trying to make the point that by changing your mind-set and trying to get out of your comfort zone a little more often will achieve a more adventurous lifestyle. This year in particular I have started to become less afraid and more daring in the choices I make and have started saying yes to a lot more opportunities. My most recent job has really helped with this (I will do a separate post about my job as there is a lot I want to say about it) and has forced me to break out of my comfort zone.
I think everyone should try to be a little more adventurous in their day to day lives and see where it takes you. I have personally felt so much more empowered since taking more risks and trying new things and as I have said I think being even just a little more adventurous by saying yes to new opportunities or experiences is achievable by everyone. I urge you to try it out and see where your adventurous decisions take you!
